Our Story

In the Fall of 2020, Prophets from Wahoo Grotto in Alvin, TX met with several Master Masons at Sugar Land Lodge No. 1141 in Sugar Land, Texas. It was their desire to further the Enchanted Realm in Texas by establishing a new Grotto in the Southwest region of Houston. By December 2020, 17 Master Masons from Sugar Land Lodge No. 1141, Morton Lodge No. 72, Rosenberg Lodge No. 881, Katy Lodge No. 1429, and Brookshire Lodge No. 1066 were on board to institute a new Grotto in the area.

At first, it wasn't Kumntakit Grotto. The original name was El'Yeah, then it changed to Yipi'Kai'A, then the membership settled upon the name "KUMNTAKIT". The name derives from the battle cry of the Battle of Gonzales in the fight for the Independence of Texas. We knew this would scream TEXAS to all who heard our name. 

After months of planning, and enduring the 2020 pandemic, a date was set for our institution. On March 27th, 2021, 35 Prophets to be, 7 Prophets from other Grottoes, and members of the Supreme Council of Grottoes of North America (now Grottoes International) met at Sugar Land Lodge No. 1141. Supreme Grand Monarch Tali Atala led the initiations of all the new Prophets present, then instituted KUMNTAKIT GROTTO, and installed the first line of Officers.

We've been hard at work ever since, bringing fun and fellowship to the realm, and making a name for the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm!
